TREATMENT EQUIPMENT AND TECHNIQUES:

The radiotherapy department of the Jean Bernard Center is equipped with 4linear particle accelerators, a dosimetric scanner (also called a ballistic scanner, dedicated to the preparation of the “centering” treatment).

Depending on the location to be treated, the doctor can offer you a type of treatment:

  • 3D conformational
  • IMRT (intensity modulated radiotherapy)
  • arctherapy
  • Stereotactic

THE COURSE OF YOUR TREATMENT:

Ballistic or dosimetric scanner

This scanner makes it possible to obtain the virtual virtual 3D of your anatomy in a suitable position so that the doctor can best determine your treatment.

This scanner has no diagnostic purpose.

At the time of this examination, an accompanying consultation will be conducted by the manipulator to explain the course of treatment (advice to follow, side effects …).

Treatment planning

Physicians, physicists and dosimetrists together define the treatment modalities. Since this treatment is personalized, the time between locating and the first radiotherapy session is necessary.

Setting up

After a last step of verification under the device and validation of the treatment by the onco-radiotherapist, the treatment can begin.

Treatment

  • Treatment usually lasts 2 to 8 weeks.
  • The session can last between 10 and 20 minutes.
  • One session is administered daily, 4-5 consecutive days a week, except holidays.
  • The session is completely painless
  • In the case of combination radiotherapy and chemotherapy, appointments will be adjusted as much as possible to minimize wait times.
  • During your treatment, regular consultations will be scheduled to ensure that your treatment is conducted in the best conditions (evaluation of possible side effects).

A team at your service

During your sessions, the staff remains at your disposal throughout your care to answer your questions or to provide you with the advice you need.

Apart from your attendance at the Center, and if necessary, the secretary of the service will be able to answer you, from Monday to Friday, from 9h to 16h (closing of the secretariat at 13h30 on Thursday)

Such. : 02 43 47 58 10, extension 4544.

PRACTICAL INFORMATION FOR YOUR TREATMENT:

A paramedical team of care of supports is at your disposal as well as that of your entourage, do not hesitate to speak to the manipulators.

Is it radioactive after a radiation therapy session?

No, you will not be radioactive after your treatment and will not run any risk to those around you.

Pacemaker wearers

It is important for cardiac pacemaker wearers to tell the doctor when they are first seen.
